7/31/13 Southwestern Football countdown
First football show tonight with Head Coach Joe Austin talking about the upcoming season. Longest off season in NCAA history is ending in two weeks!

I was very moved this morning listening to Scott Simon, whose voice has kept me company for many years on NPR, talking about sharing his mom's passing through social media. Worth a listen this morning, for sure.
On what his mother taught him
"When she just looked up at me and said, 'Oh Earth, you're too beautiful for anyone to realize,' I think we can all stand to learn that. To know that in our bones. And when she told me, 'Honey, always take time with people in their 80s,' I hear her voice coming back into mine now. 'Always take time with people in their 80s because for more than a decade, they've been looking right across the street at death and they know what's really important in life.' I don't know about you, but I can stand to hear that message."

7/27/2013 Mom's Birthday & My Birthday Eve
Maybe because it's my 43rd (whose digits add to 7, my lucky number) but between the early outing with Deana and the John Mayer concert with Amber and Mom's birthday today in the Springs with our house full of company, plus the Renaissance festival tomorrow and a trip to Houston in a few more day to see friends I haven't seen in two decades, this is shaping up to be quite a fun birthday month this year!
Photos from the day, with very few captions because I'm whupped and these pictures were slow as molasses to upload tonight.
Brought Mom the Edgar Allan Poe magnetic poetry set for the fridge. We all helped.
And on the way home? The Holy Grail of the License Plate game!
And when I hopped over to Google?
