On Poe's 211th Birthday

Well, this post is, but the photos are not technically ON his birthday as the event was last night.

Poor Poe.

I told Deana, who went with me, I had found the older PBS American Masters episode, "Edgar Allen Poe: Terror of the Soul" online earlier this week, in anticipation, and listened to it like you would a favorite album you hadn't heard in a long time.

I would show this to all my Composition classes as we tackled his short stories from the Literature anthology, especially since in the center of it was a rather complete enactment of The Cask of Amontillado by the (both now deceased) René Auberjonois as Fortunato and John Heard as Montressor. From 1994 to 2007, I'd be watching this with my students sometimes 3 or four times every semester.

The Miramont Castle, which I've toured multiple times with various people, always during the day, was offering a night tour and reading of The Raven along with other Poe touches.

A few photos from last night, although I neglected to get a photo of my favorite person roaming the haunted halls,  a little girl who looked to be about 9, in Victorian garb and corpse-face, in the Mother's dressing room, hiding in a wardrobe and emerging to silently follow and stare anyone down who entered, emerging from the wardrobe slowly, dragging an ax and following you until you left.

Nick is 27

Raise a glass to Nick's 27th birthday

I had hoped to have completed the video I've been working on with most of the photos I have him . . . but, you see, I take so many, the task of working through every folder saved from the past 27 years is taking a lot longer than I'd originally imagined!

The Wedding Photos!

so, for more than a year, I have had these first photos of Sammi when she selected her wedding dress, at fittings, etc, that could never be shared until the wedding itself.

So I just held on to them until the professional wedding photos started showing up.

These are the "preview" photos, which means there could be more in the pipeline, but there are plenty to start with!

So, first, way back in December 2018, Sammi found THE dress, albeit not yet fitted to her.

Next, the dress ordered for her, tried on in May

And then in October, alterations appointment #1

Then, the final fitting appointment

Which finally got us to the wedding itself...

Getting ready shots:

Dad's first look

Then Jason's First Look

Then it was time to get the gigantic wedding party in on the shots.

The total of guests for this wedding was 50.

Of that 50? There were 18 in the wedding party!

Time for the ceremony!

Archie was the ring bearer, mom and dad (Kennedy & Drew) are Sam & Jason's best friends in Florida

Lindsey, 21, was the flower girl, but didn't throw flowers, she threw snowflakes.

 all 50 of us!

 all the immediate family members

I had coined the phrase Sam and Jason's Florida mom & dad when Bill and Julie stepped up to take care of these two during hurricanes, trips, dog sittings, and anything else that we weren't able to do 3000 miles away in Colorado while they were at college. So it was very special to have Bill as the officiant and Julie with us.

On to the Reception!
