This weekend's hike was through Manitou Springs to try each of the 8 natural spring water fountains. We first walked up to Crystal Valley Cemetery. I had visited here nearly a decade ago and written up a blog on some of the inhabitants. I found out in the years to follow that post had been linked for students in Manitou to read!
That post is here.
This little doe is making the incline look easy
across the way, Garden of the Gods
speaking of inclines, there's the famous Manitou Incline in the distance, if you fancy walking one mile straight up (the elevation gain is over 2000 feet)
zoomed in:
There are eight springs, but we didn't make it to the last one (Iron) and we discovered the Navajo Spring was not running. So we taste tested six in all.
The 7 Minute Spring was the least alkaline and salty and was Marci's favorite.
Seven Minute Spring
Shoshone Spring was the warmest of the waters at 70 degrees
Cheyenne Spring
Stratton Spring
Twin Spring
I actually like this one best.
Wheeler Spring
the non-running Navaho Spring in the arcade
lunch with Mom and Dad
the heart cloud on our drive to their house
and dessert on the deck before heading back!
Mom and Dad supplied me with Birthday Salsa and some farmer's market tomatoes too!
All told, my step counter says I got 12,728 steps today!
