3/9/17
you know what time it is, right?
actually, it's pretty easy to tell. If the sun is just a strip along the fence behind Evan, it's late afternoon. If it's in front of him, it's morning.
In between yesterday and this morning was a very good mail day. New Hoka's and my new Sarah Scribbles book! Since I've been wearing these, no plantar fasciitis flares and no joint pain. It's been 18 months since my last new pair and a lot of miles put on them, so it was time. Walking in them this morning, it was really obvious how much I'd worn the old pair down.
Big Happy Mushy Lump is Sarah's second book, both came with fuzzy covers, and Bruiser is the perfect spokesmodel for the new title.
well, three out of four ain't bad...
even better? Sarah is coming to the Tattered Cover Aspen Grove right near my house later this month, so I can get her to sign my books! Her comic version of herself is my spirit animal.
This morning's walk was much less eventful than yesterday's. No stray puppy dogs. And, even better news, our stray from yesterday was reunited with his family yesterday afternoon and there was much rejoicing.
When I got back home, Google alerted me that they had made me a stylized photo from the one I took. Here's their version:
here's mine:
and . . . back to the backyard
Where, in the mornings you can spot how I get Evan to stand at such pretty attention. Not as clear in this shadow...
But I give it away on this one.
that's my boy

3/8/17 Morning Excitement
As luck would have it, Bob was with me on our morning walk when we came across this skinny guy running loose in the open space, trying to get a drink from the bit of water from the dried up stream bed. He was dirty and scared, but very friendly. We put the leash on him and Bob got him home while I took Evan, who was VERY interested in this scared guy and kept bouncing around trying to play, slowly home by the collar until we were close to the house and I could trust him to walk free nearby me.
Poor guy drank forever from the water we set out for him.
Look at that hound dog face.
He was happy to fetch the ball and even happier to get some cheese as treats. But he's had no training and also REALLY liked to get over-excited and hump Bob's leg. When we left him to the backyard to call the Animal Control folks, he started his hound dog whine/bark. Sorry, neighbors, but you'll have to deal for just a bit.
So he's getting checked out at the Buddy Center now for a chip (doubtful), some medical attention, a soft safe place to lay, and hopefully his people will come looking for him.
He's so skinny, though, my instinct tell me he may need to work on that humping issue so he can find some new people who like to throw balls. And have cheese.
Very happy to have The Buddy Center in the area, instead of having to take him to a kill shelter.
Update: the Buddy Center found a chip! Whether that leads them to his owners is yet to be determined, but its a hopeful sign. He's a Plott Hound. Learn something new everyday.

3/3/17 Friday
After a week of mostly clear skies, we finally got some clouds this morning!
You can see Evan with Reagan and Sadie running around in the shadows
this big thick cloud to the left was nicely ominous
not sure what happened there, must be a wrinkle in time
I liked the way the ominous cloud kind of mirrored the trail beneath
Ominous mama had a trail of baby lenticulars that looked like spaceships hurtling to earth
