And at the end of April, our only girls trip on the books for the year, was a quick trip to NYC to see all the spring blooms there.
My flight path was different this time and instead of the route over Brooklyn and the East River with all of Manhattan out my lefthand window, we flew over the Hudson side so that Central Park was directly under us and you could only see the western/Jersey side of the island

Day 1 was just dinner at the Empire Diner and a walk along the High Line before turning in
Day 2 we hit up the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens at opening, a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, a pedicab tour through Central Park, and Wicked on Broadway to close out the night.
Day 3 we had breakfast at Washington Diner and did the Catacombs By Candlelight tour, as well as the Pink Pier Event in the evening with shopping in between
The Catacombs by Candlelight Tour allow access to the only ones in the city, underneath the old St. Patrick's Basilica in lower Manhattan. Very early on, New Yorkers realized the finite space of the island could never accommodate the dead and swiftly moved to ban additional cemeteries. Very few New Yorkers are buried anywhere in Manhattan.
Above, the opening to the catacombs originally, whose stairs are now sealed off
Their view from within the catacombs
The largest and most ornate of the catacombs is actually open to view the tiled ceiling
the mirror is angled so you can see the Tiffany light fixture and Guastavino tiled ceiling

Day 4 was our departure day and raining, so we had breakfast at Lexington Candy Shop, a stop in at St. Patricks, and then headed for the airport
