Pup Week

Packing up all the Christmas and hosting Charlie for the week meant quite a few pup pics

Aidan is like, "Look kid, I'm wearing these stupid antlers, so I am getting this treat, not you."

See this little triangle above? That's my spot for naps. Jake takes the bottom half, Charlie gets the center, Bruiser on his corner.

Charlie by candlelight. He seemed like he was really thinking about getting in the tub.

for the first time all week, on Friday Charlie felt safe enough to curl up on the dog bed for a nap in the sun instead of parked between my feet.

And on Saturday, it seemed like he knew they were coming to take him home.

I can fit too!

bye Charlie! See you next month when the kids head to Florida to arrange the big move

1/2/10

Knowing what I know now, about how a pup's facial features sharpen, how both Evan and Aidan's face changed in that first year home, and both had just filled out their adult teeth, I know Evan was really just a year old here, and would soon become the most beloved dog of my life for the seven short years I would be blessed to be his and he mine.

Beautiful boy, I miss you every second of every day.

It's a sad song.

It's a sad tale.

It's a tragedy.

It's a sad song.

But we sing it anyway.

'Cause here’s the thing.

To know how it ends,

And still begin to sing it again,

As if it might turn out this time.

I learned that from a friend of mine.

Ice Castle 2020

For the second New Year's Day in a row, I visited the Ice Castle, grown from the first icicle into this multi-roomed, multi-slided space around LED lights buried inside.

This year, Deana was my adventure companion. It was considerably warmer than the 5° it was 1/1/19 but this time it was snowing. And that made for a treacherous, very ice, very slow drive back home. Our 90 minute drive time there was replaced by three hours getting back to Denver. Yeesh.

As always, the best time to see the place is right at sunset, so you can catch the golden hour ahead of real darkness. We entered around 4:40 and stayed until 6:00 for these photos.
