5/26/13 Memorial Day Weekend, Five Year Flashback

How has this been five years? It was our first Memorial Day in Colorado and Courtney came up to visit. In the intervening years, she's moved several times, changed jobs, married, and had a baby (who is now a toddler.) My freshman and 6th grader are soon to be college junior and high school senior. Amazing.

Day 1, Colorado Springs and Garden of the Gods

Day 2: Start of the Now Infamous Bear Creek Hike (that does NOT loop)

Top of the hike where we should have turned and gone back down the way we came.

Mid-afternoon, 7 miles in, realizing we were on the complete wrong side of the mountain to get back to the car.

Mile 8, about hour 7, when we started laughing hysterically

The now infamous Courtney self-portrait taken as we waited for a ride.

Next day, still friends, at the Buffalo Bill Museum

And then, on Memorial Day itself, we drove up to Beaver Creek at Aspen to take in the Blues, Brews, and Barbecue festival and hear Marc Broussard.

It was cold and even started snowing during the concert.

(If you've seen Marc lately, you'll know he's half way to a ZZ Top beard these days.)
