Our Disney trip started in wee hours of the first day of 2014. We were up at 4:00 a.m. Denver time since we would lose two hours during the flight to Orlando. We touched down at 12:30 and were checked in to our resort, Port Orleans French Quarter, at 2:30 after stopping to grab a bite of lunch in the airport before catching Disney's free Magical Express bus.
The girl checking us in said they had already checked out 700 rooms that day. You'd think that might mean the parks would be seeing a drastic decrease in crowds, but we never saw a quiet day in the parks for the next week. We were lucky that our room was ready for us.
I had faxed a room request to be in building 4 nearest the food court and bus stop thanks to my bum hip, which is the building we were granted.
I did enjoy this shot: only one little kid and three big ones in the arcade this afternoon.
We took the ferry down the river to Downtown Disney for dinner.
We had reservations for Raglan Road Pub at 5:45, which turned out to be a good choice. The guy in front of us who was trying to drop in was told he'd have an hour and a half wait for a table. We were seated at ours in two minutes, right next to the stage in the center room. They had live Irish music and dancing, and food that was delicious, especially on a cold, wet New Year's Day.
Afterwards, we shopped through World of Disney before heading back for an early bedtime, with a 5:00 a.m. (3:00 a.m. Denver time) wakeup call.
