Day 1 (Travel day) Saturday October 20
Descending through the clouds over New Jersey, with the sun behind us created this cool little prism around our shadow.
Coming in from the south afforded a great view of Manhattan. Teeny tiny Statue of Libery and Ellis Island in the center
New York World's Fair (1964)
Marci had landed about two hours before me and hung out in the Admiral's Club until I arrived. We Ubered over to our Hotel to drop off luggage and go find dinner.

I had opted for the smallest room, in the middle of everything. We were on the third floor. Luckily I brought my sleep mask, because we really could have done with a black-out curtain (or any curtain). But that was my only real issue with the room for the majority of our stay. It was quiet and clean and the bed was comfortable.
The last night, though...
every hour on the hour the hissing monster was making sounds like a tea kettle popping before it's about to boil. It wasn't quaint at that point. I wanted to chuck it out the room window.
off to find dinner!
While Marci is talking, I begin to notice that, while our table is under the Little Golden Book that looks totally normal, the books across the way have slightly . . . odder titles.
The food was good. I had the diner's "Chili Mac", half portion of their mac & cheese and half of their vegetarian chili.
After dinner we walked down to Times Square but it was a Saturday night and jam packed, so we decided to call it an early night and get the jump on an early morning Sunday.
Took a photo of Havana Central to send to Courtney. Good memories from the lat visit to the city, way back in 2007, another lifetime ago.
With only really a tiny portion of the day on the ground, we finished with 11,000+ steps.
tomorrow we'll nearly triple that!
