NYC Trip 10/22/18 and 10/23/18 Top of the Rock Sun & Stars Observation

There weren't any dusk times available when we had booked tickets that morning, so we picked the closest we could get at 6:45. The better plan probably would have been to pick the time prior to dusk and hung around for the hour or so. Because arriving at 6:40, we had to wait five minutes before we were allowed in, at which point we get in lines, through security, past green screen photo ops, and a film room, to an elevator, up to the first Observation Deck, through which we are funneled (behind glass), to the elevator to the second deck (also behind glass) and stairs to the third deck, finally without glass.

anything at night from behind glass is going to create some interesting light effects

But once you get to the very top, it's pretty spectacular.

the top of the Paramount at Times Square (very hard to see from the ground)

we made our way down (another line to that elevator) and out into Rockefeller Center.

the pools have been filled with pumpkins for the season, which amused me since the statuary becomes a bit odd, riding dolphins among the pumpkins

We grabbed a bite hear the hotel and tucked in to close out Monday, with apparently too much subway riding, since we only clocked in 9.1 miles for the day. Slackers.

We had asked the doorman while we were waiting for our entry time when the quietest time of the day was for the deck and he confirmed, the first hour. So we were back the next morning at 8:00 and were the first ones up to the top.

Central Park is much prettier in the daytime viewing ;)

Marci took this one of me on the second level observatory (no one bothered with the third level this morning)

it was at that point I realized, LittleLin! and ran back up to the top for one more shot.

Heading out, we were the first ones going down, as well. I thought we needed a certificate or something.

Up next: an exciting Tuesday morning
