10/19 & 20

While the wildfires continue to pop up and burn hundreds of thousands of acres until we can get some rain or snow (not in the forecast) we continue to get these colorful smoke induced sunrises.

10/14 Rise & Scratch

Many mornings there isn't a cloud in the sky or a critter to be spotted.

Rare mornings where the sky lights up on fire and you nearly trip across a lounging and constantly scratching coyote on the soft green grass of a soccer field.

We'd wandered up to the field to catch the show that was clearly about to start in the sky.

I glanced to our left as we were meandering and had to squint at the gray lump ahead of us.

He was so concentrated on his itches, he didn't see us. And Jake and Aidan love rolling in the soft grass so much, they hadn't picked up his scent or sight either. So we retreated across the field a bit further away to watch the light and the scratching like a tennis match.

he finally sauntered away to the open space on the other side of the baseball field, right about the time Aidan realized what he'd just missed.

Deck Lights

So home improvement project before the winter arrives: deck lights.

(My summer intention was to restain the deck and you'd think in the middle of a pandemic would be a perfect time to have tackled that . . . but it didn't happen and now it'll probably get rolled over to 2021.)

So try to ignore the atrocious deck for the time being.

The lights are color changing LED and weatherproof/shatterproof, etc.

My favorite are, big surprise, the BLUE ONES. But the white ones are a nice soft glow and will be the go-to except maybe around Christmas when I can switch between red and green. The purple and orange might be fun for Halloween.

you can see my new neighbor (Corinne) has hung similar lights from her covered patio but I didn't get lucky for her to have them on this evening. Corinne retired, bought a house up at Dillon thinking it's where she wanted to be year round, and after a few years decided to sell the place and move back to Denver before the next winter. She has a kitty that sits in her window, too.

Bru at the screen is thinking, "she really should've restained the deck this summer."

October Colors

Random assortment of October color around the neighborhood

this is the pups October color. The dead grass is SUCH a THRILL to roll around in whenever they go outside. Jake cannot help himself. And now he's apparently indoctrinated Aidan into the joy of getting covered in this stuff. He's just not as practiced as Jake for maximum grass tracking on the coat.
