10/18/19 Sara Bareilles Amidst the Chaos Tour

It's been a concert week!

Sammi and I had amazing front row center club level seats for Sara who doesn't typically play these huge arenas.

We repeated the same trek Jason and I shared last Sunday by stopping at Union Station for dinner and then backtracking to the arena for the concert, but this time we stayed up top rather than taking the underground route from the train to Hopdoddy's and I finally discovered the cool shot I'd seen professional photographers take of Union Station.

We also discovered that Jason has much longer arms for getting concert-wear selfies. This was the best we could do:

but Sammi took another so we could get the whole hoodie, including a line written down the arm of one of my favorite songs, "Orpheus" which was also the song Sara chose to both open (as a prologue) and close the show.

Come by the fire, lay down your head
My love, I see you're growing tired
So set the bad day by the bed, and rest a while
Your eyes can close
You don't have to do a thing but listen to me sing
I know you miss the world, the one you knew
The one where everything made sense
Because you didn't know the truth, that's how it works
'Til the bottom drops out and you learn
We're all just hunters seeking solid ground

Don't stop trying to find me here amidst the chaos
Though I know it's blinding, there's a way out
Say out loud
We will not give up on love now
No fear, don't you turn like Orpheus, just stay here
Hold me in the dark, and when the day appears
We'll say
We did not give up on love today

I'll show you good, restore your faith
I'll try and somehow make a meaning of the poison in this place
Convince you love, don't breathe it in
You were written in the stars that we are swimming in
And it has no name, no guarantee
It's just the promise of a day I know that some may never see
But that's enough, if the bottom drops out
I hope my love was someone else's solid ground

Don't stop trying to find me here amidst the chaos
Though I know it's blinding, there's a way out
Say out loud
We will not give up on love now
No fear, don't you turn like Orpheus, just stay here
Hold me in the dark, and when the day appears
We'll say
We did not give up on love today
We'll say

We did not give up on love today

Catch up Doggie Post

I seem to have accumulated a whole bunch of adorable puppy pictures that haven't made it into the blog.

So here's a catch up post because they are just so darn cute.

10/1319 Phil Collins Still Not Dead Yet Tour

Way back in March, knowing Sammi would be back in Colorado, I'd bought us tickets for Phil Collins' Still Not Dead Yet tour.

So a few hours before we were supposed to leave, Sammi ends up with a migraine.

Luckily, Jason was interested in going instead!

I'm not sure how I missed the fact that the Bily Joel tickets I'd given him for his birthday in August was the first concert he'd ever attended.

And now, Phil makes #2!

We rode the light rail down to Union Station to grab burgers at Hopdoddy first, and the place was nicely decked out for Halloween.

Our nosebleed seats at the sold-out Pepsi Center

Phil does not get around very well, so he sat for most of the concert, but he's still got the pipes!

Complete setlist:

1. “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)“
2. “Another Day in Paradise”
3. “Hang in Long Enough”
4. “Don’t Lose My Number”
5. “Throwing It All Away”
6. “Follow You Follow Me”
7. “I Missed Again”
8. “Who Said I Would”
9. “Separate Lives”
10 MINUTE DRUM SOLO/DUET/TRIO
11. “Something Happened On the Way to Heaven”
12. “You Know What I Mean”
13. “In the Air Tonight”
14. “You Can’t Hurry Love”
15. “Dance Into the Light”
16. “Invisible Touch”
17. “Easy Lover”
18. “Sussudio”
19. Encore: "Take Me Home"

His youngest son, Nicholas, is the drummer on the tour, all of 18 years old. His oldest and only other son, Simon is close to my age and toured with his dad when he was just a bit older than Nic in the early 90s)

Nic also learned the piano part to do a duet with his dad on tour.
