The Start of August: Stephanie Finally Makes It to Colorado 8/2 - 8/7

We started off August in our normal way

But by Day 2, we had Steph in Colorado for her very first visit. We met up with Tanya for dinner the first night

One more morning walk (Steph slept in)

And then we were off to Brekenridge for the weekend to meet up with Steph2 and Deana

Presents from Deana included bringing the champagne one of her clients had brought her, and a photo from our adventure sailing the prior year on the same weekend.

We got in Friday evening at separate times, so Steph1 and I made dinner and I caught up on work.

Saturday morning, we were treated to some beautiful weather. And the flowers in Breck in the summer are just gorgeous.

But Steph couldn't get aclimated to the altitude. She drank gallons of water, tried coconut water, still felt awful, so she and I hit up the oxygen bar for a half hour therapy. It perked her right up and got her back on track to enjoy walking around town. Steph2 and Deana went sailing, but once I had her feeling better, I didn't want to chance any boat sickness, so we stayed on land.

even the courtyard in the condo got an upgrade with planter boxes

Sunday morning it was about 48° and overcast, with the mountains almost entirely shrouded and lovely soft rain falling.

but by the time we'd packed up and hit the road, the skies were clearing nicely, so we took the scenic route down 285 back home and made a couple of water stops to play.

my little balanced rock tower looks impressive from my angle

from Steph's . . . not so much

Once we got back, we grabbed a bite for lunch and then headed back out, since this was our only day neither of us had to work before jetting back to Houston Tuesday night.

We headed over to Red Rocks and then down Bear Creek for a hike with the boys.

one of the ginormous trees along the trail was uprooted

Then we raced back to my house to clean up and meet up with Tanya one more time, this time with her new hubby Jason (and we had to stop in and see Cosmo, her pug)

We got up Monday morning and Steph actually made the walk this time around.

Then we got busy working and binging Netflix -- she made it all the way through The Handmaid's Tale season one and started into season two before we had to leave on Tuesday.

we were right on time, boarded just right, and then looked out the window to this...

so we had to sit there while we waited our turn in line for the hail damage inspection.

Then the plane was declared damaged, the flight cancelled, and we rushed to rebook at the gate, made it onto the last flight headed for HOU that night, and got in after midnight.

Still had to pick up the rental, and we had to file cases for our baggage which was not delivered. So we didn't fall into bed until nearly 2:00 a.m. Wed. morning.

But since I could go pick up the luggage the next morning, we now both have $100 travel vouchers on Southwest, which Steph will be using to come back in February to go to the Elton John concert I scored tickets for way back in the early part of 2018.

And I'll be using mine to fly with her again back to Houston to get in another scanning trip before it gets miserably hot . . . like this August trip. Win/Win.

Up next . . . The Houston Reunion Adventure
