Sam and I spent our Christmas present time seeing Waitress on Saturday 12/30 at the Buell.
Sara Barielles has been a shared passion between us for nearly a decade now. We were able to catch her concert at Red Rocks in 2013 and were thrilled to read about her writing the songs for an upcoming Broadway show way back in 2015.
We followed her release of songs in her voice, and then its Broadway opening, and the Tonys, and Sara's debut in the role. This January 2018 she is returning with a two week overlap with Jason Mraz who sings the duets with her on her Waitress album, which neither worked with our schedules nor our budget, so it was exciting to discover the traveling tour would be in Denver during the time Sam would be back in Colorado.
Since we already knew all the songs both from her own album of them and the Broadway cast recording later. From that, we could kind of piece together parts of the story, but to get to see it together, finally, on stage, was just a gift.
