12-10-11 Christmas Song(s) of the Day #10: Jingle Bells

Benny Goodman's Orchestra

Count Basie (turn it up) I want to play the bass part here.

Booker T and the McG's

Smoky Robinson and the Miracles (wheeeee!)

The Ventures

The first recording of Jingle Bells appears on this 1897 gramophone recording, starting at 3:50

Jingle Bells was written in 1850 by James Lord Pierpont for the popular Thanksgiving sleigh races they had in New England.

It has since been recorded with someone laughing the melody all the way through, dogs barking it, and the endless parodies and variations.

 sorry, kid...
