3-18-11 The First Robins of Spring

There are days where the little surprises, the things you weren't intending, feel like the best omens in the world. I'd grabbed the camera again now that the sun was fully up to get a picture of the blooming maple in the front yard, the ones my loft/office window looks out on, with the shimmering bits of snow already melting off of the buds. And right as I focused, in flitted the first robin I've seen this year.

And then, further up in the tree, I spotted the other, watching me.

. . .I famish to behold so eminent a sight
And sang for nothing scrutable
But intimate Delight. . . .
~Dickinson
