Walking Wednesday kicked off before dawn and when it was light enough, kept going with Evan and I heading to the dog park to watch the sun rise.
Washed Out Wednesday started about an hour ago and in the space of about 5 minutes we had flooding in the house from the open windows. It took five towels just for the main floor. I tried to capture some of the lightening and out of 40 tries, I got 2. . .
I walked out on the porch to enjoy the wind and the rain, but this was early on. If I'd stayed out there much longer we'd have a sequel to the Shawshank Redemption rain scene. Sheets of water poured out of the sky sideways just minutes after I took this video. The thunder shook the house and set off car alarms and freaked out all of the animals.
Turns out it was a good thing Nick called this morning to ask why we were under the impression Bob needed to drive out to DIA tonight. His flight doesn't come in until tomorrow night. The conversation went something like this:
Nick: "Why is Dad driving to the airport tonight?"
Me: "Um, to pick you up??"
Nick: "Is he planning on hanging out for 24 hours?"
And thanks to the terrible weather, it's just as well. Here's hoping we don't have a repeat that delays his flight tomorrow. It's in the forecast for tomorrow, too. . .
