3-6-12 KONY 2012

KONY 2012

Expect to see this, heavily, everywhere you go.

It's a movement, begun on Sunday, that is making brilliant use of the social media we surround ourselves with.

I can't count how many times I've seen someone on Facebook put up a pretty picture with the Ghandi quote "Be the change you want to see in the world."

But I hope I can count on even more postings by these same people who decide to be a part of something enormous, history-making, and one of the most honest, humanitarian missions on the planet.

Joseph Kony has been abducting children, 30,000 of them, in African countries, forcing the boys to join his rebels, whose only goal is to remain in power wherever they are. They are made to kill or be killed. The girls are turned into sex slaves for the men and boys, or killed if they resist.

Wherever the army goes, masses of children leave their families' home and villages each night to try to find a place better protected from the nightly abductions. They pile into school buildings to sleep, because home is never safe when Kony's men are in your region.

30,000 children.

But Uganda and the surrounding countries are poor.

They have nothing to offer wealthy nations that would interest them in helping catch this killer.

For 26 years he has done this with impunity.

26 YEARS.

In 2012, it's time to make him stop.

Please, watch the film.

And then act.

Share this, with everyone you know, everywhere you go.

And yes, I'm going to play this card:

Don't call yourself a Christian and make excuses why you can't be a part of this moment.

I'm a stay-at-home, work-from-home 40 something Mom, and I am going to make a difference, even if it is  just putting the film on facebook daily, blogging to my 15 readers, wearing a bracelet, and donating a few dollars.

Please, join me.
